Take an amazing boat trip 450m under the Hills of Castleton to the awesome Bottomless Pit. Understand a little of what life must have been like for the miners working in this eighteenth century lead mine.
Booking Policy
We are following ongoing Government advice on preventing the spread of COVID-19 in confined spaces. We are insisting that ALL customers wear masks whilst in the Cavern unless you have a genuine exemption. This is a matter of courtesy to your fellow customers and our staff. Please be kind & respectful.When booking please select the number and type of tickets that you require. Then pick a date and an arrival timeslot. The time on your ticket will show when we ask you to arrive by. Your tour will start 20 minutes later. The total duration is typically 45 minutes to 1 hour after your start time. Please arrive within your timeslot so you're ready for your boat trip. If you miss your start time we may not be able to accommodate you on a later tour. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN. If you know you will be late telephone us on 01433 623018 and we will do our best to move you to a later tour subject to availability.
All customers will be required to wear a face mask or covering for the duration of the visit (approximately 1 hour). (We will have face masks for sale for those customers arriving without bringing their own, priced at £1.50).
Disabled Access Owing to the nature of the cavern, Speedwell Cavern may not be suitable for all disabled visitors. Please call or email for information before your visit to avoid disappointment.
Small and medium sized dogs are welcome on the boat tours. There is very limited space for large dogs.
Facilities Pay and display car and coach parking is available with a discount scheme for Cavern visitors. A range of confectionery and hot and cold drinks are available.

For a full refund, cancel at least 7 days before the activity is scheduled to start..
If the activity is cancelled by us for any reason (occasionally, extremely wet weather can force us to close the cavern), the option of either rescheduling or a full refund will be offered.
