Adventure Details

Day 1

Start time 07:00

Your ability level will dictate how long it takes you to complete this challenge. We'll overview a typical 5-day cycle but bear in mind this can be extended to seven days! The length of your adventure will also dictate your route (including different ferry routes), here's a normal 5-day route, but bear in mind this could change if the length of adventure is increased. Typically the group will meet early in either Central London or further South at 07:00 for a trip briefing. After a short cycle through the outskirts of London, the route passes along country roads through Rochester and Canterbury before arriving at the ferry in Dover. We will arrive at the ferry for a late afternoon crossing to Calais. An evening meal is available for purchase. Once in Calais, it is a short cycle to our hotel for a well-earned rest.

Day 2

Soon after breakfast, we'll head off on our day and ride east, cycling through the town of Dunkirk, which was made infamous due to its ties with WW2. Next is the Belgium border crossing. The route then follows the Belgian coast to our overnight resting place, Bruges. Bruges is the capital city of the West Flanders region, the historic city centre of which is a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Day 3

A high mileage day, but one with a distinct lack of hills! During the first quarter of the day, we cycle northeast to Breskens where we take a foot passenger ferry crossing the Western Scheldt estuary to Vlissingen. Although a high-mileage day, we really should fly through the miles! Our ride today ends on the outskirts of Rotterdam, the second-largest city in The Netherlands and one of the largest ports in the world. This is where we'll stay for the night.

Day 4

Heading away from Rotterdam, our route today heads northeast, almost passing The Hague. You can tell we're close by as we pass Amsterdam’s airport in the southwest of the city. A further ten-or-so miles and we reach the capital city of Amsterdam, one of the most cycle-friendly cities in the world! You made it! This evening we should have plenty of time to check into our hotel, grab a shower and have a final celebratory group meal in a nearby restaurant.

Day 5

Your bicycle and main piece of luggage will be transferred from Amsterdam to London St Pancras Station. You'll have the morning to explore the sights of Amsterdam before getting a train from Amsterdam to London in the afternoon. If you wish to fly or travel to a different onward destination, you'll need to seek your own transport for your luggage and bike.
